Every year the journal Nucleic Acids Research publishes a Database Edition that contains listings for hundreds of bioinformatics-related databases. It’s an invaluable snapshot of the current state-of-the-art databases, and it’s available free of charge under NAR’s Open Access policy. Recently, they added a Web Server edition which describes the web applications currently available. Both editions are a great resource and make for some interesting end-of-the year reading. You can download them from the NAR website. The website also has a browsable listing of all of the databases featured in issue.
